| Title | Identification of the Audience of Lady Wisdom’s Speech in Proverbs 8 and Its Subsequent Effect on the Interpretation of Proverbs 8:6-9 |

| Abstract | 잠언 8장은 큰 문학단위인 1-9장 안에 있는 하나의 독립된 문학 단위이다. 이전의 장에서는 아버지 또는 스승이 자기 아들에게 지혜를 얻기를 권면한다. 그러나 8장에서는 지혜를 얻기를 권면 받는 청중이 특수한 사람 또는 단체가 아니라, 큰 길가나 시장 통에서 볼 수 있는 불특정 대중에게 행해지고 있는 것을 볼 수 있다. 심지어는 그 대중이 어리석은 자들 또는 멍청한 사람들까지 포함하고 있는 것을 볼 수 있다. 큰 길가나 시장 통에서 행해지는 지혜자 (Lady Wisdom)의 연설의 내용이 (8:4-9), 흔히 도덕적이고 윤리적인 것으로 이해되었다. 이와는 달리, 이 논문은, 8:6-9이 언급하고 있는 것은, 연설 내용의 윤리적 성격이 아니라, 지혜자의 연설이 무식한 대중들도 이해할 수 있을 정도 쉬운 내용이니, 청중들이 귀를 기울이고 경청하기를 권면하는 것이라고 주장한다. 지혜자의 연설의 궁극적인 내용은 8:10-31에 나타난 하나님과의 관계에 잘 나타나 있다. 따라서, 본 논문은 8:6-9의 히브리어 본문 분석을 통해서, 지금까지의 번역과는 다른 번역을 제시하고 다른 성경번역들과 비교한다. Proverbs 8 is considered a self-contained unit within Proverbs 8-9. In the earlier chapters, a father appeals to his son or sons to pursue wisdom. But in Proverbs 8, the audience of Lady Wisdom’s speech is characterized as common people, according to the socio-geographical location of the speech (heights, crossroads, gates) and its significance to the identification of the audience (8:1-3). The audience is also specified by two sets of words: “men” (~yviyai) and “children of man” (~d"a' ynEB.) in 8:4, as well as “simple ones” (~yIat'p.) and “fools” (~yliysiK.) (8:5). The audience in Proverbs 8 is beyond the usual circle of educated sons. Lady Wisdom emphasizes that even simple ones and fools need wisdom. First of all, this paper examines the significance of the expansion of the audience of Lady Wisdom’s speech to the interpretation of 8:6-9.
