| Abstract | 본 소논문은 유다 귀환자들에 대한 부정적인 평가를 재고해 볼 것을 요청한다. 성경해석의 영역에서 그들은 이기적이고 게으르며 종교적 관심이 부족한 이들로 평가되어왔으며 그로 인해 불명예를 안고 있다. 일반적으로 학자들의 평가는 인용된 그들의 생각(1:2)과 1:4-7, 9-11과 2:14-17에 서술된 여호와의 고소에 근거하고 있다. 따라서 본 소문문은 이 절들을 다시 검토해서 그들의 평가가 정당한 지를 살필 것이다. 본 소논문은 유다 귀환자들이 그들의 부정적 태도 때문이 아니라 팔레스타인의 상황에 대한 그들의 신학적 이해에 따라 성전 건축을 중단했음을 제안한다. 즉, 여호와가 약속하신 회복의 때가 자신들의 세대가 아니라 후대의 세대에 속한 것으로 판단하고 후대가 그 회복을 누릴 수 있도록 먼저 정착하는 일에 힘을 기울였다는 것이다. 따라서 학개는 회복이 그들의 세대에 속했음을 설득시키면서 그들의 판단을 수정할 것을 도전한 것으로 보인다. 본 소논문이 제시하는 학개 1:1, 4-7, 9-11, 12과 2:14-15의 독법은 학자들의 부정적인 평가를 수정할 가능성을 제공한다. 더 나아가 회복을 위한 주요 요소들이 이미 마련됐다는 사실과 현재의 중요성을 강조하는 학개서의 특징은 본 소논문의 제안을 지지한다. 이 제안이 정당하다면 적용의 수정도 요구된다. 즉 학개가 독자들에게 주는 도전은 우선순위의 문제가 아니라 하나님의 시간에 대한 영적 분별력의 문제가 된다. The present article is a call to reconsider scholars' negative evaluation on the Judean returnees with the attempt to rescue them from their disgrace. In the arena of biblical interpretation, they have been suffering from scholars' negative judgment on their attitude as being lazy, selfish, apathetic (lack of religious concern), and so on. In general scholars' judgment depends on the quotation of the people's thought on the situation in 1:2 and Yahweh's indictment in 1:4-7, 9-11, and 2:14-17. We will reexamine these verses in order to see if scholars' negative judgment can be justified. This article proposes that the Judean returnees stopped the construction of the temple according to their theological perception on the situation in Palestine. That is, the era of Yahweh's restoration did not belong to their generation although Yahweh led them to return. Due to this perception, they made their efforts to settle down first in the land so that the next generation to come could have the chance to enjoy the restoration. Therefore Haggai challenged the people a change on their perception as persuading that the restoration belonged to the current generation and that only thing they needed to do was to rebuild the temple. The Judean returnees halted the construction of the temple not because of their selfishness or apathy, but because of their misperception of the situation. Our readings of 1:2, 4-7, 9-11, 12 and 2:14-15, 19 provide a possibility to negate the negative view on the people's attitude and action. Haggai's emphasis on the readiness of the basic necessities for God's restoration at that time and the importance of the current time supports our proposal. If our proposal stands, the application of the book needs to be altered. Haggai's challenge is not the issue of priority, but of spiritual sensitivity and discernment of God's timeline. |
