| Title | 소돔과 고모라에 대한 구약성경의 수용과 새로운 접근 |

| Abstract | 본 연구는 공시적인 접근방법과 통시적인 접근방법을 활용해서 창세기 19장에 언급된 소돔과 고모라의 멸망원인에 대해서 다룬다. 먼저 소돔과 고모라가 역사적으로 어떻게 인식되어 왔는지를 살펴보고, 소돔과 고모라 이야기가 창세기 19장 이외의 구약성경에서 어떻게 이해되고, 수용되었는지를 각각의 본문의 배경 속에서 분석할 것이다. 그리고 마지막으로 실제 소돔과 고모라 사건이 언급된 18-19장을 자세히 살펴봄으로써 소돔과 고모라의 멸망원인과 죄가 무엇인지를 새롭게 접근하고자 한다. 지금까지 소돔과 고모라의 죄는 크게 세 가지로 언급된다. 동성애로 멸망했다는 주장이 첫 번째이고, 나그네를 환대하지 않았기 때문에 멸망했다는 주장이 두 번째이다. 마지막으로 이 두 가지를 합친 것으로 성적 일탈과 환대를 하지 않은 것이 가장 큰 멸망원인이라는 것이다. 이러한 결과가 나오게 된 배경은 기존의 연구자들이 주로 창세기 19장에 초점을 맞췄기 때문이다. 하지만 소돔과 고모라 사건을 제대로 이해하기 위해서는 19장의 배경이 되는 18장의 하나님과 아브라함의 대화를 놓쳐서는 안 된다. 하나님께서는 아브라함을 통해서 공의와 정의의 공동체에 대해서 말씀하신다. 이것은 곧장 심판을 받게 될 소돔과 고모라와 대조를 이룬다. 이것을 달리 말한다면 소돔과 고모라의 멸망원인은 공의와 정의의 길을 가고 있지 않음이라고 말할 수 있다. 소돔과 고모라에서 들려오는 것이라고는 울부짖음밖엔 없다. 공의와 정의가 사라진 곳엔 ‘폭력’이 그 공간을 차지하게 된다. 결국 소돔과 고모라가 멸망하게 된 근본적인 이유는 소돔과 고모라에 만연된 ‘폭력’이 문제가 된다는 것이다. 구약성경은 동성애에 대해서 분명히 반대하고 있다는 것은 부인하기 어렵다. 하지만 소돔과 고모라의 죄악을 동성애나 혹은 환대에만 초점을 맞추는 것은 현상만을 보고, 그 이면의 근본적인 원인을 간과하는 것이다. 이러한 모든 범죄의 이면에 있는 폭력에 초점을 맞출 때 창세기 18-19장 전체의 관점에서 이해할 수 있다. 본 연구의 소돔과 고모라에 대한 새로운 이해와 접근을 통해서 독자들에게 폭력의 위험성과 파괴성을 알아가는 기회가 되기를 소망한다. This paper explains the causes of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis 19. For this study, I use the Diachronic and Synchronic Approaches approach. First, we will identify how Sodom and Gomorrah were recognized in history and we will analyze how the story of Sodom and Gomorrah was understood and accepted in the Old Testament other than Genesis 19 in the background of each text. And lastly, by examining Genesis 18-19, where the actual Sodom and Gomorrah incidents are mentioned in detail, I would like to take a new approach to the Destruction’s causes and sins of Sodom and Gomorrah. So far, the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah have been largely claimed in three ways. The first claim that it was destroyed by homosexuality, and the second claim that it was destroyed by inhospitality to the guest. Finally, the causes of the destruction are sexual transgressions of various descriptions(homosexuality etc.) and inhospitality by combining the above two arguments. The reason for these results is that researchers have focused only on Genesis 19. However, in order to understand the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, we must not miss the dialogue between God and Abraham in Genesis 18, which is the background of Genesis 19. God speaks of the land of justice and judgment through Abraham. This land is in contrast to Sodom and Gomorrah, which will soon be destroyed. It can be said that the cause of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah is that the people of Sodom and Gomorrah did not keep the way of justice and judgment. The only sound from Sodom and Gomorrah is a cry. When justice and judgment disappear, ‘violence’ will take its place. Ultimately, the fundamental reason for the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah is the 'violence' that prevailed in Sodom and Gomorrah. It is hard to deny that the Old Testament clearly opposes homosexuality. But focusing the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah only on homosexuality and inhospitality is to look only at the phenomenon and overlook the root cause behind it. When focusing on the ‘violence’ behind all these crimes, it can be understood the story of Genesis 18-19 as a whole. Through a new understanding and approach to Sodom and Gomorrah, I hope that this study will give readers an opportunity to learn about the dangers and destructiveness of violence. |
