The book of Jeremiah is free to use poetry and prose style freely, regardless of form in style, and, if necessary, the style of wisdom psalm. This study begins with the fact that various poetic images and metaphors from Psalm 1:1-3 are found in Jeremiah 17:5-8. In this study, I want to see how the style of wisdom psalm was used and how it was developed one step further in Jeremianic wisdom poetry.
Ultimately, the message of Psalm 1 states that the wicked move hurriedly and decide entirely according to the human thought, but the righteous are those who move to God's wisdom, memorizing the Torah of God. In the book of Jeremiah, however, the speaker's attention shifts from ‘the life of the happy’ mentioned in Psalm 1 to the person who will receive God's blessing. Jeremiah 17:5-6 speaks of the cursed, and then verses 7-8 speak of the life of the blessed. in this respect, the cohesive structure of Jeremiah 17:5-8 is well organized rather then the text of Psalm 1. From the point of view of meaning, Psalm 1:1-3 is the focus of the connection between the wicked and the righteous through the contrast between the wicked and the righteous. In Jeremiah chapter 17, the distinction between those who are cursed and those who are blessed depends on what they believe and trust. In other words, it can be said to be the action of the mind. So, if the description of the righteous in Psalm 1:3 focuses on describing the condition of the tree from the observer's perspective, Jeremiah diagnoses and judges the action of the mind. In Jeremiah 17, Torah is no longer acting as a criterion between those who are cursed and those who are blessed. The focus was only on trusting Yahweh or not. Through this analysis, we can see that why the linguistic devices and the metaphors of Psalm 1:1-3 were used with the words of prophetic oracles in Jeremiah 17:5-8. The purpose is to emphasize the meaning of trusting Yahweh in the remnant of Judah and the children of the next generation.
