| Abstract | 비평학자들은 여호수아 22-24장을 부록 내지는 편집의 산물로 돌리는 까닭에 이 단락이 전체 책과 가지는 구조적 연관성을 잘 보여주지 못한다. 여호수아서의 구성을 비교적 자세하게 분석한 학자는 꼬르파르(H. J. Koorevaar)이다. 그의 분석은 국내 학자들에게 많이 알려져 있으며 대체로 그대로 수용되고 있는 형편이다. 그러나 꼬르파르의 분석에는 적지 않은 문제점이 있다. 꼬르파르(H. J. Koorevaar)는 여호수아서가 “신적/인간적 주도”(divine/human initiative)에 의해 시작되고 “종결”(closure)로써 마무리되는 네 개의 단락으로 이루어져 있다고 주장한다. 하지만 이 주장은 여호수아 22:1과 23:1의 시간표시 “그때에”와 “오랜 후에”가 가진 문학적 기능을 간과한다. 이 표시는 시간의 흐름을 나타낼 뿐만 아니라 주제의 전환을 알리는 구조적 기능을 수행한다. 이것은 여호수아 22장과 23-24장을 “인간적 주도”라는 틀에 맞추어 하나의 단락으로 취급하는 꼬르파르의 분석이 옳지 않다는 것을 의미한다. 더 나아가 꼬르파르의 분석은 여호수아 1장의 내용 – 모세의 후계자인 여호수아와 지파들 간의 연합 – 이 여호수아서의 끝부분(수 22-24)에서 반복된다는 사실에 충분한 주의를 기울이지 않는다. 이 연구의 결과는 1장과 22-24장이 내용과 주제에 있어 대응관계 있으며 여호수아서가 도입부(1장)과 종결부(22-24장)를 갖는 통일체이자 독립된 한 권의 책임을 보여준다. 이는 여호수아서가 신명기적 역사기록의 일부라는 비평적 견해에 의문을 불러일으킨다. Since critical Scholars tend to regard Joshua 22-24 as an appendix or deuteronomistic additions, they fail to show that this section forms a structural unity with the other parts of the book. The structure analysis revealing the literary unity of the book was made by H. J. Kooevaar. He suggests that the book of Joshua consists of four major units, each of which begins with the divine or human initiative and comes to close with a “closure.” However, this suggestion overlooks the literary function of the temporal markers in Joshua 22:1 and 23:1, namely “then” and “after many days.” These markers not only show the flow of time in the narrative, but they also perform the structural function of denoting the change in themes. This means that Koorevaar’s analysis dealing with Joshua 22 and 23-24 as a literary unit by the conceptual frame “divine/human initiative” is deficient. Further, Koorevaar’s analysis does not pay due attention to the fact that the contents in Joshua 1 – Joshua as Moses’ successor and solidarity among the tribes in Israel – recur at the end of the book (chs. 22-24). This study argues that both Joshua 1 and 22-24 correspond to each other in terms of theme and contents. This leads to the conclusion that the book of Joshua is a fine self-contained literary work furnished with beginning and end of its own, an observation raising questions about the critic’s view that the book of Joshua constitutes a part of a single work called Deuteronomistic History. |
