| Abstract | 이 연구는 16세기의 대표적인 종교 개혁자 존 칼빈의 다니엘서 해석 및 그에 근거한 종말론을 마르틴 루터의 신학사상과 비교하며 탐구한다. 루터의 다니엘서 해석은 종교 개혁이 진행되던 시기의 공포스러운 분위기를 종말의 시대로 여기는 경향이 강했다. 그는 다니엘 2장과 7장, 9장에서 교회가 직면한 위기와 그 위기의 중심에 있는 적그리스도 교황과 이슬람의 음침한 세력을 주목했다. 그러나 칼빈은 루터를 비롯한 동시대 종교 개혁자들의 다니엘서 해석을 발전시키되, 보다 철저하고 일관된 본문 주석에 천착한다. 칼빈은 성도들에게 동시대의 현황을 분석하고 나아갈 믿음의 바른 길을 제시하되, 하나님의 구속 역사의 정점인 예수 그리스도의 구속 사역, 그의 복음의 전파, 하나님 나라를 부각시킨다. 칼빈의 다니엘서 해석과 종말론은 철저한 기독론에 바탕을 둔다. 칼빈은 동시대를 그리스도의 재림이 임박한 시기로 보며 다니엘서의 넷째 나라가 어떻게 현존하는지 설명하려고 했던 루터의 한계를 극복한다. 하나님의 나라는 바벨론 포로 후기에 다니엘서를 통해 예수 그리스도의 강림을 바라보며 구체적으로 예언이 되었다. 그리스도의 강림과 그의 복음 전파는 하나님이 자기 백성을 구속하시는 역사의 최종적 단계를 형성했으며, 이후로 그리스도의 영원한 통치는 이미 수립되었고, 이후 그리스도의 재림의 시기에 이뤄질 완성을 향해 지속되고 있다. 비록 교회는 대적자들에게 고난을 당하고 있지만, 복음 전파를 통한 그리스도의 성도의 세상 통치는 이미 영원하고 완전하다. 다니엘서가 예언한 그리스도의 구속과 부활과 복음 전파는, 주전 6세기 말 고레스 시대로부터 출발점으로 삼고 그리스도의 부활과 로마의 성전 파괴되던 주후 70년 중간에 종착점이 있는 시대에 완전히 성취되었다. This essay investigates the eschatological traits of John Calvin’s interpretation of the Book of Daniel, which includes the only full-blown apocalyptic prophecy in the Old Testament(chapters 7-12). To describe Calvin’s hermeneutics of Daniel and his eschatology, the focus is concentrated on commonalities and differences between John Calvin and Martin Luther. First, Calvin’s exposition of the four-kingdom apocalypse (chapters 2, 7, 11-12) is highlighted in a way of showing Calvin’s divergence in many ways from Luther’s critique of the papal system. Also, it will be highlighted that Calvin’s exegesis of the seventy-weeks prophecy (Daniel 9), while echoing Luther’s, underlies Calvin’s Christ-centered interpretation of history. Although Luther’s interpretation of Daniel exposes in many aspects the influence from the contemporary trend of apocalypticism, Calvin’s arguments about God’s ultimate purpose of history are based on his thorough exegesis of Daniel. Calvin’s eschatology flows from his Christological perspective of the divine kingdom. With the first coming of Christ, maintains Calvin, Christ’s eternal dominion has been already established, and looks toward its completion to be made by the return of Christ. |
